In AntiVirus for IQ-Mail, the scanning process is tightly integrated with the process of sending / receiving mails (local / remote). For outgoing or internal mails, the mails are scanned as soon as the SMTP server receives them. For incoming mails, the mails are scanned as soon as the POP3 client downloads them. In effect the scanning engine is in-built into the SMTP server / POP3 client. Now, it is possible to even scan the internal mails. No other scanning engine can offer this level of integration.
The features of the AntiVirus service include:
Exceptional Integration
The virus-scanning engine is built into the SMTP, POP3 and IMAP servers enabling very tight integration with the mailing system. Messages are scanned as the SMTP / IMAP servers or the POP3 client receives them.
Scan Options
The AntiVirus service has multiple scanning options, which can be customized separately for incoming e-mail, outgoing e-mail or internal e-mail. On detecting a virus, you have total control on the type of action to be taken.
Attachment Cleaning / Deletion & Mail Quarantine
As much as possible the efforts of the AntiVirus services will be to clean the suspect or infected attachment. If the cleaning fails then the suspect or infected attachment is deleted and the rest of the mail is forwarded to the recipients. Emphasis is not to simply quarantine the mail unless so configured.
Alerts Through E-mail
The AntiVirus service provides the facility of sending automatic alerts, when it detects a virus-infected message, to any or all of the following: administrator, sender, recipient, or any other user.
Auto Download of Virus Data Files
The AntiVirus service can be set up to automatically update the virus definitions database through the smart update facility.
Attachment Control
You can exercise total control over the attachments the users can send or receive. The attachment control component of the AntiVirus service checks the mails for black-listed attachments, if found the said attachments are deleted with relevant message being inserted in the mail. The AntiVirus service has a global attachment control list in addition to a separate list for Outgoing, Incoming and Internal mails.
Attachment Control Within Zip Files [New - v6.0.29]
Attachment Control can now optionally check for attachments within zip files. If a black-listed attachment is found in the zip file, the entire zip file is deleted. The Attachment Control within Zip Files checks even works with password protected zip files. This further enhances the control you can exercise over attachments flowing to and from your organization.
