Configuring PostMaster for SSL accounts.

 

PostMaster can be configured to use SSL settings for sending and receiving emails. It consists of the following steps.

 

- To Generate Certificate.

- To Apply the Certificate for SMTP & POP3

 

Step I: To generate certificate.

 

- Login to WebAdmin of PostMaster.

- From the left hand side list click on Security >> Certificate.

- Enter the required information in fields, e-mail address and password of a SSL account. (e.g Gmail account details.)

- Click on Generate to generate a certificate and than click on Accept to accept the same.

 

Restart PostMaster to apply the settings.

 

Step II: To configure SSL SMTP / POP3 account in PostMaster.

 

- Login to WebAdmin of PostMaster.

- From the left hand side list click on Remote >> Outgoing.

- Click on Primary.

- Enter the SMTP host as “smtp.gmail.com”. Port as 465.

- In the SSL enabled field select “Always”.

- Enable the User Authentication and enter username & password of your SSL / Gmail account here.

- Click on “GetCert” to generate certificate. Should get a positive reply.

- You can view the certificate by clicking on “ViewCert”.

 

Note: You should have a valid SSL / Gmail account.

 

Step III: Receiving mail using SSL / Gmail account in PostMaster.

 

Follow the below steps to configure PostMaster to download mails from SSL / Gmail account.

- Login to WebAdmin of PostMaster.

- From the left hand side list click on Remote >> Incoming.

- On the page that opens on the right hand side under pop3 Accounts click on “Add New”.

- In the new window that opens click “Enabled” check box.

- Type in the entry name.

- In “Host” type in the POP3 host, e.g. “pop.gmail.com” and “Port” e.g. 995.

- In “User Name” and “Password”, fields enter your account username and password.

- Under “Deliver To”, “Delete”, “Delete After”, “Size Filter”, “Max Size” & “Action”, do the settings as required.

- Tick the check box next to “SSL Enabled” option.

- Click on “Submit” to save settings.

- Than click on “GetCert” to generate the certificate for receiving mails.

- Click on the “Accept” button to accept the certificate.

- Verify its proper functioning.
