 Configuring TCP/IP In Windows 9x.
Solution

To Configure TCP/IP In Windows 9x:

  1. Start the Windows 9X computer, and logon as administrator.
  2. From the Windows desktop, click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network Icon.
    The Network dialog is displayed.
  3. Click the Configuration tab.
  4. If the TCP/IP is already installed on the computer, you will see TCP/IP><Network Card Name>. In this case, proceed to Step 6.
  5. If TCP/IP><Network Card Name> is not in the list of components, click Add.
    The Select Network Component Type dialog is displayed.
    o Select Protocol from the list and click Add. 
       The Select Network Protocol dialog is displayed containing a list of protocols.
    o Select Microsoft from the Manufacturers list, 
       Click TCP/IP from the Protocols list.
    o Click OK to return to the Network dialog. 
       The TCP/IP>Network Card Name is updated in the list of components.
  6. Click TCP/IP ><Network Card Name> in the list.
  7. Click Properties. 
    The TCP/IP Properties dialog is displayed. Enter the details of the IP settings of the computer here.
    o Click the IP Address tab.
    o Click Specify an IP address.
    o Type the IP address of the computer.
    o Type the sub-net mask of the network in Sub-net mask.
    o Click OK.
  8. Click Yes if you are now prompted to restart the computer.
