Mails Not Delivered - Local Or Remote
Solution

Category – Troubleshooting,

Sub category – PostMaster Express v7.x & ver.6, Legacy PostMaster versions

Applicable to: PostMaster Express v7.x,& ver.6, Legacy PostMaster versions

Preliminary Checks

If you are using antivirus software on the PostMaster machine than:
- is Email scanning disabled.
- is "QLC" folder (default path "\program files\qlc\") excluded from real-time and
normal scanning.

Possible Reasons For Non Delivery

The possible reasons for non delivery could be one of the following:

  • One of the mails in the "tmp" area is infected with a virus. You have an
anti-virus software installed on the machine which prevents access
to this infected file - stopping the distribution process.
  • One of the mails in the "tmp" area is corrupt, PM can not process
it to distribute to correct user. This corruption may have happened
to abnormal crashing / hanging of the system.

How To Resolve This Problem?

To resolve the problem:

  • Disable the anti-virus on the PM machine for the time-being.
  • Shut-down and restart the PostMaster
  • If the problem is due to infected mail, the "Status Messages"
window on PostMaster Console would display distribution process.
In next few seconds, the 'tmp' folder will get emptied.
  • If you still find current dated files in the 'tmp' folder:
-For each message there is one 'dat' and the corresponding 'ctl' file.
Check the extension of the files, if you find some files other than these
    file types remove those files.
-Shut down and again restart to check if the messages get distributed
    from the 'tmp' folder.
  • If the messages still remain in the 'tmp' folder. Please do the following:
    - Rename the 'tmp' folder as 'temp'
    - Send one local as well as one internet message to check if the messages
    are getting distributed.
    - If the messages get distributed move pair of files from the 'temp'
(each 'dat' and corresponding 'ctl' files) to 'tmp' folder one by one.
    - Each such pair will get processed and distributed. The moment is stops,
you should see presence of a file named "generateCTL.lck' and not disappearing.
This should be the pair of files with corrupt message, remove them from this area
and send across to us (it will help you us in finding out the corruption and its
    cause).

If still problem contact QLC Tech Support Team.
