From the Windows desktop, click Start>Programs>Accessories>Dial-Up Networking.
If there are no Phonebook (Dial-up Networking) entries, the Dial-up Networking dialog displays
the message ‘The Phonebook in empty. Press OK to Add Entry’.
Click OK.Â
OrÂ
If there is already an existing Phonebook (Dial-up Networking) entry, the Dial-up Networking dialog is displayed with the existing entries in a drop down list.
Click New.
NOTE:Â In either of the above cases, the New Phonebook Entry Wizard is displayed.
Type the Name Of The New Phonebook Entry (Connection Name). For example, ISP-Name.
Select the I know all about new phonebook entry check box.
Click Finish.Â
The Edit Phonebook Entry dialog is displayed with the properties for the connection.
By default, the Basic tab is selected. Type the Entry Name (Connection Name). For example, ISP-Name.
Type the Phone Number of your ISP. The modem you have installed should appear in the Dial Using drop down list.
If you have more than one modem, select the modem you want to use with this dial-up connection. Select the modem.
Click Alternates.Â
The Phone Number dialog is displayed.
Click Add. Type the alternate phone numbers of your ISP New Phone Number.
Click Add. Repeat until all alternate phone numbers for the connection are entered.
Click OK to return to the Basic tab of the Edit Phonebook Entry dialog.
o Click the Server tab. From the Dialup Server Type drop down list select PPP, Internet, Windows NT,
  Windows 98.
o Select the TCP/IP check box in the Network Protocols section.
o Select the Enable Software Compression check box.
o Select the Enable PPP LCP extension check box.
Click TCP/IP Settings.Â
The PPP TCP/IP dialog is displayed.
o Click Server Assigned IP Address.
o Click Server assigned name server address.
o Select the Use IP header compression check box.
o Select the Use default gateway on remote network check box.
o Click OK to return to the Server tab of Edit Phonebook Entry.
All the other tabs are optional.
Click OK.
Click Dial.
Type User Name and Password.
Click OK.Â
The computer will try to connect to your ISP.
