 Configuring TCP/IP In Windows 2000.
Solution

To Configure TCP/IP In Windows 2000:

  1. Start the Windows 2000 Professional computer and logon as the administrator.
  2. From the Windows desktop, click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network & Dial-Up Connection>Local Area Connection. 
    The Local Area Connection dialog is displayed.
  3. Click Properties. 
    The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box is displayed. 
  4. If TCP/IP is already installed on the computer, you will see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list of components. Proceed to Step 8.
  5. If Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is not in the list of components, click Install. 
    The Select Network Component Type dialog is displayed.
  6. Click Protocol and then click Add. 
    The Select Network Protocol dialog is displayed.
    o Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the Network Protocol list.
    o
    Click OK. Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is added to the list
       of protocols in the Local Area Connection Properties dialog.
  7. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list of protocols. 
  8. Click Properties. 
    The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) dialog is displayed. Enter the details of the IP settings of the computer here.
  9. Click Use the following IP address.
  10. Type the IP address of the computer in IP address.
  11. Type the sub-net mask of the network in Sub-net mask.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click Yes if you are now prompted to restart the computer.
